What is SingAREN?
Singapore Advanced Research and Education Network (SingAREN) started as a national project funded by the government in 1997 to take on the challenge of ensuring that Singapore.s research and education (R&E) community is connected to the international R&E community. Being the national research and education network (REN), it has maintained network connectivity to the global Next Generation Internet (NGI) community such as Internet2 and APAN (Asia Pacific Advanced Network).

What is the motivation for SingAREN?
The motivation for SingAREN is to promote and facilitate R&D
in next generation broadband and internet technologies, and to
link Singapore's research and education community to the global
information infrastructure and foster collaboration. |

What can SingAREN be used for?
SingAREN can be used by users from academia and research organizations
to link up to universities or research institutes worldwide which
are also connected to their respective R&E networks to carry
out collaborative research or applications. SingAREN can be used
as an experimental platform to investigate, develop and test new
network technologies and applications prior to deployment for
commercial use. |

Who manages the SingAREN Network?
SingAREN NOC is currently being supported by Datacraft on a 24x7 basis. The NOC Management and Policies are under the purview of the SingAREN EXCO.
