Quantum Leap in International Networking between Sydney, Perth and Singapore

On 17 September 2019, the launch of high-bandwidth services of more than one Terabit per second to connect Sydney, Perth and Singapore, using the new Indigo subsea cable system was announced by Australia’s Academic and Research Network (AARNet).

This will greatly facilitate the reliable flow of research traffic among the 3 locations, especially needed for significant global science projects like the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research) and the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) radio telescope.
